Aging In-Place

The desire for a person to live independently in one’s own home or in a home environment, rather than in a facility, is a strong motivation and ideal.  But as we age and our abilities diminish, this can become unsafe or impractical.  The assistance of family or friends might be an option, but over time, this can create stress that strain those relationships and create compromises that are less than optimal, for the senior as well as those trying to help.  Furthermore, it is common for a senior, not wanting to be a burden, to conceal, put off, or ignore various needs or chores, creating the potential for greater problems and consequences.

Having a third-party make regular visits can go a long way to monitor the health and safety of a senior, while providing peace of mind for family and other concerned parties.  Interestingly, we have frequentlyfound our clients are more open and honest about how they feel or what they want with our caregivers than they are with family members.  Perhaps this is because they accept it is the caregivers’ job to address these issues:  a professional obligation, rather than a personal or moral one.  Whether its once a week or every day, our caregivers can assist with a variety of household chores and needs, and provide insights and advice on maintaining or even improving the safety, health, and well-being of the senior client.

Companion Care

Our caregivers can assist with a variety of household tasks such as light housekeeping and meal preparation.  They can also help with transportation and errands outside the home.  Maybe just go out to change things up for change of scenery and exercise.

Medication Assistance

Whether its daily prescribed medications, vitamins and dietary supplements, or as needed medications for pain or other symptoms, we can help to monitor the medication regimen through reminders, charting, documentation.

Dementia Care

Most seniors will develop some level of dementia in their lifetime … this is inevitable. Unfortunately, more than 60% of these cases will be Alzheimer’s which can have profound and far reaching effects on an individual and everyone around them. Assisting someone with dementia requires more than just compassion. There are skills and methods that will make a difference in how a person copes with the dementia and their ability to retain their vitality and independence. We can provide the skilled assistance to ensure safety and offer some peace of mind.

Personal Care

Inevitable changes in our physical abilities as we age can result in changes in our personal hygiene. The physical act of bathing or taking a shower can become unpleasant or even dangerous. Incontinence may be an issue which snowballs into change in personality, unsocial behavior, and lack of motivation to keep up personal grooming. Our caregivers have the requisite physical skills as well as the ability to work with and encourage the senior client with respect and sensitivity to their dignity.
